Senior Information

As you begin the preparation for life after high school, there are a few things that we would like you to know:

1. SAT/ACT testing dates (mandatory for entrance into college)

2. Each of you has a mailbox within the Student Services Department (check weekly, you will find important information such as scholarship information).

3. College Representatives will visit during the year. Please come ask about colleges you are interested in & we can let you know when they are visiting Scio.

Senior Planning Calendar

  • -Aim for success in your courses and electives
    -Ask your counselor when college reps are coming to visit or when open houses are
    -Attend local college fairs & visit colleges you are interested in
    -Develop a calendar for important dates and deadlines for both scholarships and applications
    -Narrow your list of colleges to 5-10 in which you might apply
    -Begin writing ideas for your college essay
    -Request letters of recommendation
    -Register for SAT/ACT

  • -Use Naviance & other internet resources to access college information
    -If you are not planning for college, see your counselor and begin procedures for other opportunities
    -Keep looking for scholarships
    -Visit colleges and continue to work on applications

  • -Continue college applications
    -Remember to send official scores and transcripts to colleges
    -Check for early deadline scholarships

  • -File the FAFSA after January 1st (apply for a PIN)
    -Keep your grades up & keep in mind that you will have to choose a college in the upcoming months

  • -Follow up with colleges to see if they have all of your application materials
    -Keep looking for scholarships
    -Meet with your counselor if you are considering post-high school options other than college

  • -Keep an eye out for acceptance letters

  • -You should hear from most colleges you applied to... make sure to take a close look at your financial package before sending in a deposit to your college of choice

  • -Deposit to the school you will be attending
    -Advanced Placement Tests
